As the heart of San Diego, Downtown is always buzzing with exciting urban life. It also encompasses the airport making travel and relaxation easy to accomplish. Boasting five star restaurants, electrifying nightlife, multiple concert venues, and breathtaking bay views, Downtown has something for everyone can enjoy.

Originally “Downtown” was what we now call Old Town back in the 19th century but patrons soon realized that the lack of navigable water was an inevitable drawback to the growing metropolis. Soon after, this pronounced “New Town” eclipsed Old Town and so began the metropolis that is Downtown San Diego. Many of the structures still remain as historical landmarks of the city mixed with newer construction erupting in later years. The streets of Downtown are laid out like a grid with many “pay to park” lots but there are also many building that offer exclusive parking to their residence. Downtown retains its huge transit accessibility with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, the San Diego Trolley and the Coaster, that links San Diego to North County.

Take a stroll by the bay, enjoy a show at the San Diego Opera Theater, or live it up in the Gaslamp District, which holds some of the best restaurants and clubs in the city. Downtown is the perfect place to discover San Diego.
